Military Training to Do at Home

How to Train Like a Military Man at Home?

I don't have any equipment but I want to train like a soldier

Not all of us have sports equipment at our disposal. You're probably not in the military yet, so you don't have access to a combat course.

And that's perfectly understandable. That's why we've put together the key components of a good military workout for you to do at home.

You will develop your power

A soldier must be powerful. Don't ignore this point. You've definitely seen the military's equipment. Rangers on their feet, bulletproof vests on their backs, helmets on their heads, weapons around their necks, and sometimes a backpack to boot!

You can imagine that with this equipment, they are not going to stay seated... No. They will have to accomplish their mission , respect deadlines and time limits, face the weather conditions, etc. For them, this is no game, because stress can be added to all these constraints.

To maintain their full capabilities despite the additional burden they must shoulder, soldiers must develop their strength and resilience.

To familiarize yourself with what awaits you if you choose to join the army , we offer you different exercises.

Beginner level : In order to familiarize yourself with the weight load that the equipment that any soldier carries can represent, you can start by choosing a good backpack that will act as a bulletproof vest. You will weight this bag with an intermediate load (5 to 10 kg). The exercise for you will be to walk on more or less steep terrain for 1 hour 30 minutes continuously. This goes without saying, but plan to hydrate yourself. You can do this walk once or twice a week, until you are comfortable.

Intermediate level : Same exercise. A good backpack and a fairly heavy load this time (at least 10 kg). After your 1.5-hour walk, you'll continue with this complete workout:

- Pull-ups (1 x 25)

- Push-ups (1 x 30)

- Squats (1 x 35)

- Abs (1 x 40)

- Jumping Jacks (1 x 45)

This should be done as quickly as possible. This type of training should only be done once or twice a week.

Advanced Level : This time your "ride" will be longer. Based on your 1 hour 30 minute circuit, we will add two additional challenges. The first, your tour will have to be completed at a trot. The second, every half hour, you will complete:

- Push-ups x 20

- Abs x 30

- Squats x 40

For this exercise, since you're running, remove some weight from your bag; 5 kg will be enough. The goal is to progress, not to injure yourself prematurely.

You will work on your mind

No, you don't have access to the comfort of an air-conditioned gym. But in the field, neither do the military. In overseas operations, soldiers face weather conditions regardless of the mission: storms, thunderstorms, arctic cold, heatwaves...

Do you see where we're going with this? Take advantage of your outdoors to prepare yourself for these often extreme future conditions . Once you're involved, you'll realize in hindsight that your little childhood forest was very comfortable.

It's your mental strength that will help you get through these challenges. Your ability to keep fighting , even when everything pushes you back. To work on your mental strength, we offer various exercises that you can adapt safely.

In the forest , head out for a day and a night in complete autonomy. Recognize the route beforehand or learn to use a topographical map. If the weather forecast predicts rain, lots of sun or snow, plan what you need in terms of equipment, but don't back down.

If you have access to the sea or the ocean , forget the swimming pool. Military personnel, when they intervene in the aquatic environment, do not dive into water at 27°C. However, do not take unnecessary risks, just swim in any season, that will be enough.

For city dwellers and country dwellers alike, try your hand at climbing ! Head to a bouldering gym, or simply gain some height with challenging treetop adventures or via ferrata courses. This type of activity will develop a whole host of skills that will be very useful for your future commitment.
